The idea for OPF or "organic" in an affordable bloggers camera is probably less than zero probability. However, the event title "Capture True Color" must relate to something. Another idea would be since Panasonic and Leica closely share camera technologies, maybe "Capture True Color" refers to including something like "Leica Looks" profiles in this new small/compact Panasonic camera? Or maybe a new so-called "color science" aka "True Color"

It sounds more like marketing for bloggers. We already have the Sigma FP/FP L with very good colors, but missing the selfie screen/IBIS for bloggers and the mechanical shutter.

My money is on something like this (article from 2023, I have zero affiliation)...

Is Panasonic going to bring back the Lumix CM1 smartphone? by Jose Antunes - ProVideo Coalition
https://www.provideocoalition.com/is-panasonic-going-to-bring-back-the-lumix-cm1-smartphone/

...for L-mount, and we'll just have to wait see what all the rumored "Capture True Color" hype/spin is all about.

I guess the big question here is if the interchangeable lens Q will be M mount or L mount. My gut says M mount based on form, which would technically make it a M with an EVF and no autofocus - they will probably say it's a Q, though, to appease the purists who feel that M is exclusively a rangefinder.

The fact that Leica has been producing M mount lenses with close focus ability may support this idea, since the rangefinder of the M series is useless at these close focus distances.

It could also be a completely new mount – Q mount. It could be shorter enough versus L-mount to allow room for adapters for both L and M lenses. It would be quite a thing if it were so short it could allow adapting Z-mount lenses, because then it could mount any mirrorless lens out there with the right adapter.

They’re going to bring out a film camera. The Leica branded version unfortunately will scratch film.

Perhaps it makes sense for content creators? As a compact camera I am not convinced. I personally probably would not replace my Ricoh GR III with this one.

Ok so Nikon Z30 or a Sony ZV-E10 but full frame and with Lumix LUT stuff (which is actually cool).

It's a video/cine cam with a stills feature. Fitness influencers market must be considerably bigger than photographers these days.

The market seems to be going in that direction. Andrea claims the Sony ZV-E1 has been a hot seller.

From 2022:

"Panasonic to ‘Shift’ Camera Business to Focus on Mirrorless Video

Panasonic aims to focus its attention on video cameras, where it has seen significant success in recent years, particularly with the GH series of cameras — most recently the GH6 which, while advertised as a stills cameras is more widely appreciated for its video capabilities."

I would be interested in this camera if it a) offers better exposure tools than Sony b) would be lovely if they included a CFexpress type B rather than having to hook up a SSD with a wire and holder like the s5 line to record most of the nicer codecs/5.9k.

Should be fun. I really enjoy the Lumix line. My main gripe is the AF, having to rig it up and overall size compared to the a7siii/FX3/EV-1. I am cheering for Panasonic here.

Didn't Sigma make an L/Mount FF video camera that had some hoopla as a stills camera?

They still do--Sigma FP and FP L. One is 61 mp FF, the other is 24. They are really wild interesting cameras that keep getting great firmware updates. Ahem ahem Sony.

Like most really weird products, they have a following but lots of practical frustrations. The color from those cameras are pretty distinct and epic though.

Thanks LBJ2. I understand it will offer ibis. Any news on the type of S9 shutter? ES only like the Sigma FP series or will it also offer MS/EFCS like the S5 II?

According to Andrea's video:

IBIS ✅
Free Angle Tilt Touch Screen ( as expected) ✅

No word on the S9's shutter yet.

@goodbokeh I would be surprised give the size and reported target audience and intended use if we get a Mechanical shutter. The ZV-E1 also only has e-shutter. I think we'll also see sparse physical controls and a solo SD card slot. It would be great though to see some of these things not be so crippled--good way to differentiate from Sony.

I am also hoping the pancake prime is a 28mm.

What would be great is if I could use my (underutilized) Leica M Visoflex 2 EVF on the S9. That would be an outstanding example of the Leica-Panasonic partnership. But of course I'm dreaming...

No mechanical shutter. It comes with 18-40mm lens plus one more pancake prime lens per l-rumors...
