This vintage Leica came from an estate. As you can see, it needs serious restoration. As I am not a Leica M user, I do not know what model it is or its production years, it just looks like an earlier screw mount to me. Can you help me identify this li'l Leica.

I’m not a Leica specialist, but I think there are sites where you can look up the year and build by serial number. That should give you a lot of info. The leatherette missing seems the biggest visible issue. I think that’s a relatively easy fix. The rest looks pretty good, but I have of course no idea if any of those knobs and buttons work.

Looks to me from the list linked below that it is a Leica IIIc screw mount from 1946 - 1947 just post WWIII.

Here is a nice review of the camera with great pictures too.

Leica IIIc with a beautiful Leitz 50/1.5 Summarit LTM lens!

I also own this camera-lens combo. The IIIc is a very rigid and reliable model - I would send it out for CLA at an outside Leica service and maybe replace the outside skin.

Your best bet would either be to send it to Youxin Ye (http://www.yyecamera.com/) or Don Goldberg (DAG) (https://www.dagcamera.com/contact.html). Either one of them would be able to do a good CLA/restoration of both the camera and lens as needed; you'll have to wait a while but it'll be a lot faster and cheaper (and probably better) than sending it to Leica. There are a few other folks who do this work as well.

I’m not a Leica rangefinder user. This and a few other cameras are from an estate and I am selling them for a friend. I checked the shutter, it works, but I am sure it and the lenses, there are two, all need a CLA. I’m going to post it on FM for sale as-is next week. Thanks for your help.
