p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Manfrotto q90 centre column system

Manfrotto tripods use the Q90 system to swivel the centre column to 90 degrees.

Now I am just being curious. I know you can get a shorter column for the tripods, and it says it fits all - in this case the 190 series.

They changed the design of the q90 system over ten years ago, but if the actual columns are the same, would it be possible to swap a newer q90 system to an earlier q90 tripod? The newer q90 system makes the tripod a bit shorter when fully folded up, which could be useful, but I have an older carbon fibre tripod, and would like to fit the newer q90 - I have the possibility of buying a knackered newer aluminium 190 with a good q90
