The info on the screen disappears in 2 seconds never giving me enough time to look at it. How can I change this timing? I'm digitally challenge and this is my first digital camera. It seems so complicated.

Check your quick sleep settings. In the menu it's the gear icon then menu J2. Page 174 of the owners manual will show you hot to get there.
