Has anyone done the EBC (Everest Base Camp Trek) if so curious what you took as far as Camera Gears, Planning on doing EBC Gokyo Lakes, Chol-La Pass trek in Oct 2025. If still permitted in 2025 (Nepal Government start to require trekkers must use a guide) we are going unguided no porter so will be carry a 15KG backpack (weight limit on flight from Kathmandu to Lukla) so going to go light as this will be close to a 3 week trek. As of now considering Canon R8 Canon RF 24-105 STM and Canon RF 10-18 don't think I will take a long lens such as RF 100-400 any recommendations appreciated

Sounds really cool!! drooling over something like this fairly recently. A lot of altitude, I'd prefer having the 100 400, 15kg isn't light though, really

Definitely think you're on the right track taking uwa, have you looked at 15-30? I'd rather have ff uwa if the performance is good

Thank you Mike I do have the 15-30, as well traveling light will be key actually will only take small table top tripod I have turned one of my trekking poles into a monopod and will carry a strap that if possible will strap trekking pole to rock, tree for stability. The trek really isn't very technical but like you said it is the Altitude will take between 2-4 days during trek for acclimatation

I did the 5 passes back in 2012 - honestly, it's better with a guide and porters, as a good guide will be paying attention to your aclimatization, knows the better spots to eat and sleep, can point you interesting features and pace you accordingly. the porters will ease no doubt your load, and then you can carry more camera gear, and enjoy your trk too a bit more.
no doubts you need an uwa, and a mid range 24-105 - which could be a good p&s (doubles as bachkup) and then a mid range zoom 70-200 or 100-400. if you lucky to have clear skies, surely a tripod is a must. it's cold, so avoid aluminum as much as possible.
I see a light tripod more usefull than a monopod, but do bring both trekking poles.
wipes - don't forget to bring baby wipes and beware of local toilet paper (which you will have to buy- no freebies) - it's borderline grit#500 sandpaper

Thank you for the info the Guide info kinda weird for us in that a person going with us has friends that guide for 7 Summits and we will have some connections with them while we are there even after the climbing season is long past Instead of standard 2 days in Namche Bazar and Dingboche we most likely will take an extra acclimation day at each. Did you do Kalapatthar? I hear if possible do it at sun set rather than hike up for sunrise in that alpenglow is crazy on Everest at sunset . That means a dark hike all the way down to Gorakshep

No, I did not go to ebc or kalapatthar, but indeed I heard that the sun set is better.
Don't undermine evacuation insurance and having someone that can recognize symptoms of altitude sickness and knowing what to do.
Nanche Bazar is a boring place, but acclimatization done sooner is more effective than having to descend to lower elevations if starting getting sick
Good luck and enjoy > don' t miss the locals market area in Kathmandu if you have time
