The "fault" reported on your camera of reverting back to live view while "spinning the wheel several dozen times" related to saving power? Especially if the battery annoyed with such demands. Reset camera with firmware card instead. Bon courage.
I shot and scrolled thru about 100 shots, 5 or 6 times over, and couldn't replicate this issue. My personal opinion is that you might have pressed some other button/control that took you back to live view.
