Best day so far this year. Absolutely terrific weather and about as clear as you're gonna find with a minimal amount of thermal shimmer. GFX100II behind a Canon 500mm f/4 IS II and two tripods for stability.

This one is a bit bigger than I normally post since it's a panoramic, so go ahead and double-click it into a new window.

Thank you so much. One of my favorite subjects. This winter has not been as great as last year and I hope there will be a few more days to shoot right after it rains.

We've had far more rain this year than last but it's also been a lot warmer, so not nearly as much snow in the local mountains.

Thanks Bill. I love showing L.A. in a way that most people never see, even the folks who live here.

Thank you. And see, we actually do get snow here in southern California, and on a good day, you can be in it in an hour and a half.

Beautiful. That crane on the far fight is the one dissonant element but I'm glad it is the only one.

There are probably even more cranes hiding in the high res file. I like that there's one that's obvious. They are always part of the landscape there so I embrace them, but yeah, I was completely aware of that and made a conscious decision to crop just beyond it.

Dan, it's certainly very sharp at this size but there is always some atmospheric thermal interference going on in different parts of the image and different amount in different areas. This was not the best nor the worst but overall it was pretty good. You can certainly see it jumping around when you zoom in to focus and it's not entirely predictable as to what time of day will be the clearest optically, to shoot.

It is VERY good Peter! If there is thermal waves moving through the image, I cannot discern them. The windows in the buildings are very sharp and discernible without any eye strain. In fact you can see much of the windows at that range very well!

Dan - If I posted a 100% crop you surely would. Remember that this is three plus images wide and something like 22,000+ pixels in width, so this image here is about ten percent of the original. And it's weird how it changes in different parts, like the lowest amount is in the snow and trees in the mountains in the background, and then again in the foreground at the bottom of the frame. The bottom line is that a small to moderate amount of the thermal interference doesn't really affect even a fairly large print very much. A five or six foot wide print would still look very very good.
