I just want to say that I updated my ETZ21Pro firmware to 1.37 yesterday, and while it isn't listed as a potential improvement, it completely fixed any of the issues I was having with my Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN - namely that on 1.34, it would focus fine in all light at wide apertures, but if you stopped down to f/4 or f/5.6, and weren't in very good light, it would often struggle to lock focus, and would hunt. On my Zf it would not lock focus at all beyond f/4 in dimmer light.

On v1.37, there are no such issues, and I can focus in essentially any light at any aperture now, even on the Zf...and even when using the aperture ring at like f/8 (where it stops down to f/8 before focusing).

oh thanks, I see now they divided ETZ21 from PRO. I'm on the old one so I think I can't update

Can we get clarification on this?

If you open the fw file v1.36 for the EZT21, it says MLZ_ETZ21Pro0136A.bin

If you open the fw file v1.37 for the ETZ21Pro it says MLZ_ETZ21Pro0137.bin

I'm certain they are electronically the same, Pro has improved mechanical design and removed old usb pins. It states they are identical functionally from the AF point of view. IMO (which maybe wrong) v1.37 should work on ETZ21, but I'll stick to v1.36 until I know for sure.

Do u guys mount and unmount the adapter often, if so, with the lens attached or not?

The website says unmount the lens first then, unmount the adapter. It is easier to unmount the adapter with the lens attached though.

I am wondering if the adapter can stand up to repeated mounting

I’m a Sony shooter that would like to use. Z body, is this adapter good enough to use on a regular consistent basis?

With the lenses that I have (35GM, 50/1.2GM, and Sigma 85/1.4), yes. The GM lenses feel very close to native. All functions work, AF is fairly quick and very accurate. I’m sure they are a little faster on a Sony body, but they feel quick. I can’t speak to every lens, but my understanding is that most Sony lenses work very well. They work well enough that I bought the Sony lenses instead of the native Nikon lenses in these ranges even though I could have gotten the Nikons. (For the 50, I didn’t like the size of the Z 50/1.2).

They work very well for lenses I've tried. I already showed the AF is up to it with the 200-600G chasing birds in flight. I've tried 35GM, 100-400GM, 200-600G and all AF functions work well.

Older lenses might not be as good, but I don't have any of those.

Pixel Perfect and Jordan, thanks for sharing your experience with this adapter. Now I have figure out what either the Z7II or the Z8 give me, a tripod based landscape shooter, over my A7RIII.

@pjmsj21, owning myself a Z7I and a Zf, I want to point out that Etz21 works miles ahead better on the latter.
So If your intention is to adapt sony on Z, I'd suggest to move to the newer body (Z9, 8, 6III, f).

Thrilled to hear from a Z6III user, I was concerned that this new model might not yet be supported by Megadap, thanks for sharing your experience!

Any chance that something from Sigma's full-frame E-mount glass was part of your Z6III assessment, or are your reporting for native Sony lenses only?

Sorry, I don't have any Sigma glass. Tested with Sony 16-35 F4 and a couple of Tamron and Samyang primes. All seem to have the same performance and full functionality as a Nikon Z lens. They didn't work correctly until installing the latest firmware.

A long review of megadap by Matt granger

Honestly, not dissing Nikon lens but the emount selection is so huge one can almost always find something better in emount, whether it’s cheaper, lighter, brighter, etc.

I tested a lot on my sigma 35mm f1.2 with walking portraits. It follows focus very well until subject get very close. But at that distance I think everyone has issues.

Anyone noticed in the past if Megadap had any discounts during Black Fridays?
Or at any time?
