Another variable to consider - the more popular a particular camera or product is, the more there will naturally be on the used market. A certain percentage of them will always be for sale, so the larger the overall product pool is, the more you will see on the used market at any given time. You never know people's motivation for sale, it could be anything from financial hardship to changing hobbies or an unlimited number of other reasons. Looking at data in isolation, especially on an enthusiast forum, is never going to give an accurate representation of the broader market.
Yet another variable - the Z8 is basically the same camera as a Z9 from a performance standpoint. Because of that, it's a very popular backup or secondary camera. Backup cameras get sold more often than primary cameras, especially if they are just purchased for a particular trip or job and are no longer needed after.
Take the iPhone for example - I think most would agree those are very popular and generally well liked. In my area alone there is what seems like an unlimited number iPhones, no more than 1-2 years old, for sale at any given time. Nobody shopping for one is wondering why there are so many to choose from and it's unlikely that a high percentage of those folks selling are jumping ship to another brand.
The last thread we had on this was what, 7 or 8 pages long, all to come to the conclusion that Z8 sale prices were right in line, if not higher than other similar models on the used market relative to their MSRP. All we've learned is that with cherry picked data you can push any narrative you want If you want a Z8, just buy a Z8. If anything was wrong with it we would know by now. If there are lots for sale, great, maybe you can get a slightly better price.
