Pennsylvania has a fantastic olde era gas pump trail all along Rt30 into Gettysburg from Breezewood, Pa.
All the pumps are hand painted and I chose to selectively color those pumps! Selective coloring requires a subject that will not distract from the B&W of the background or foreground.
I found that to be the case here. Especially in Winter with snow on the ground!

Those pumps are gorgeous. Very artsy. I can see why you chose to show them in color. Nice series! Now let's grab one of those $6.99 pork chop dinners!
Cheers,
Brent

Yes I was very lucky to have a friend in Chambersburg/Mechanicsburg that sent me the info! While I did NOT photo every gas pump, the ones I got were very unique and creative. I think winter had much to do with the images. Adds separation in the frame!
Thanks Bob!

In fact I DID Brent. A huge loin porkchop, bone in, broasted PA style, and served with a twice baked potato and some sweet/sour veggies! And the slippery potpie( a local chicken and dumplings receipe) was dutch style! Mucho fresh veggies, real chicken, homemade gravy, wonderful flaky crust and big!!! It explodes when you open the crust! Made the whole trip a plus!
The photos weren't bad either for me! It was a good day to be out and traffic was light due, for RT30US, the day after snow and a weekday.
Thanks!

That's an amazing meal for $6.99. Now I'm really hungry!

Great set Dan. I love how they make art on the old pumps. I love these and that building is pretty fun too.

Thanks Pitter! My use of Selective coloring has to have the right subject. To me these hand painted gas pumps did!
Thanks hermano!

Nice series Dan, documenting a bygone era. Bygone pricing for a pork chop dinner.

Okay, now you're making me feel old!

As a teen in the early sixties, I worked at an eastern California resort with a working pump almost identical to the twenties-era Texaco pump in #5. The pump is still there, but I don't know its operational status.

Very well done (including the twenties-era gravity feeder). Excellent subjects for selective color.

A great find. And very unique set of decorated pumps. The color did not distract me from the B&W. Also a magnificent circular barn in the fist shot. Not many of those around any more.

There are 3 circular barns near me. 2 are for weddings and parties. The other is a functional horse barn.
Thanks!

There is 1 of these near me Ray. It is on a deserted property. It is a wonder someone has not stolen it! I would buy it but Suzanne would blow a gasket!
