I have tried the Voigtlander 15mm three different times on Sony bodies and all three times they exhibited slightly smudgy corners. Has anyone tried the Voigtlander Z 15mm f4.5 on a Z body and did they do a better job of optimizing the lens for the sensor stack that there is no issue with corners?

"the corners wide open are quite soft"

I would use a 15mm at f/8 most of the time anyway. Unless I'm using the Nikkor Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S at 15mm, then I may just shoot it wide open.

I like my 14-30/4 S. Not so heavy/bulky, and image quality is more than adequate for 99% of pictures:

I have it and thinks it sharp and nice, all over. I posted samples some in the Voigtländer on Nikon thread.

The 15mm is just a lens with a lot of copy variation. A good sample has pretty great corner performance on Sony particularly for the size of the lens. Three copies just may not be enough; I had to try five to get a keeper.

UGH! That's disappointing to hear. I love that the hood is removable on the Z version, I was hoping that they fixed the corner thing too.

I received my copy of Z-mount this week and I think the corner IQ is depends on the scenes and the different aperture.
IMO, the IQ of infinity focus is acceptable @f5.6 or stopping down to f6.3, f8.
Z-mount version has the better MFD 0.126m comparing to E/VM-mount. but the corner is bad even stopping down to f8.

I had previously posted this in the Sony forum, it's a full res (61MP) sample of my copy of the lens. It's a rubbish photo, taken purely for testing purposes. You can see that the corners look reasonable without the telltale smearing that bad copies of this lens exhibit. This was taken at f6.3. The bottom corners are DOF limited so are not in full focus.

From what I have seen posted on this forum I would say my copy is not a 10/10 version, but certainly better than the vast majority of samples of this lens. The true (rare) golden copies will perform a little better than this - but not much.
