I am very much aware of the difficulty level of designing an f/1.0 lens compared to an f/1.2 one, but one really must be a manual-focus-aficiando, to pick this 50mm 1.0 over a Sony FE 50mm 1.2 GM.
This is also true relative to Nikon and Canon's excellent 50/1.2 lenses.
The 50/1.0 is Cosina's halo lens for the Voigtlander line, so I guess it makes sense for them to offer an optimized version for the three major FF mirrorless systems to show off their capabilities. A fast manual lens like this, with electronic coupling enjoys the benefits of each system's focus assist features. I'm not familiar with this aspect of Nikon or Sony, but on Canon, focus assist can be coupled to face/eye detection and tracking to make for easier, confident non-magnified focus of otherwise challenging subjects. That said, I would trade the 50/1.0's relative compactness for the bulkier OEM AF model instead, simply for face/eye detection/tracking AF. And I suspect this is the barrier Cosina faces with many users of these systems.
As a Leica M and Canon RF user, it makes more sense (for me) for one lens to be usable on both systems. Therefore I'd be adapting M lenses to Canon RF. In this respect, I like Cosina's recent focus on M-mount releases. But there is of course the inevitable performance tradeoff caused by Canon's sensor stack thickness mismatching the lens's optimization for Leica's sensor stack...
