I dont know if there is any diference with th Z-mount version, but at least on the not-so-many megapixel Zfc I think its very sharp all the way, and resolves great detail at most distances. If you look in the Voigtländer on Nikon thread I've a few samples SOOC.

Thanks for the overview! I prefer rendering with some structure so that's actually a plus for me. I wish I could see same sample images. Perhaps @Juha Kannisto own it and has some galleries to share!

In the spring of 2018, I sold all of my Leica gear to help fund a home improvement project. Later that year, I missed using the M camera and bought a M4. While looking for a M mount lens, I came across a Voigtlander 50 2.0 collapsible Heliar split from the 250th anniversary kit for sale by a member in a different forum. It's more of an oddity than a collector piece. It's a brass body lens, doesn't collapse very much and has half stop from 2.0 to 8.0 with 11 and 16 being full stops only. I have the silver chrome version which they only made 800. I paid around $500 usd for it and whenever I look at auctions, the price is all over the place. I really should use it more.

Voigtlander 40mm 1.2. Middle distance rendering is the best of any lens.

Used to say the 75mm 1.5 but never use it because I have the Leica 75mm APO.

Color-Skopar 28mm f/3.5 in ltm. Have shot it on IIIg, MP and MP-240. Works great on all of them. Extremely compact, and the ergonomics are just fine (contrary to some complaints I've read).

Love all my Voigtlander lenses. If I could only keep one or two it would be CV 40/1.2 and/or CV 50/f1.2 because they are my absolute favorites.

CV 50/2.5 ltm. My main focal length is 50mm. (It was hard to decide between this and the incredible 50/2 apo…)

CV 28/3.5 ltm also gets a vote.

The CV ltm skopars are just great, built so well with a lovely look.

hmmm. This is a fun thing to ponder.

These are my faves...

*21mm f/1.8. This used to be glued to my mirrorless camera (even though it played a little poorly with my A7RII). The combo of fast, wide, sharp and smooth are really appealing. I decided to start shooting film (almost exclusively) a few years back. Wide angle lenses are not fun to use on a rangefinder with an external finder for close-up focusing...you're just guessing at framing. Also, of all the Voigtlander lenses I've owned, this one (and the 50/1.5 VM ver1) were the nicest feeling/best built, in-hand.

*40mm f/1.2. This lens is incredible. The focal length, the size, sharpness, speed and rendering are so lovely. Sadly, none of my film cameras have 40mm frame lines and a friend picked up a CL and was in need of a lens, so I sold it to him. (Now...I miss it).

*35mm f/1.4 Ver 1 SC. The Voigtlander lens I've owned the longest. Tons of character. Sharp enough. Beautiful flare. Perfect size (but I wish the tab were a little bit larger).

I have the 10/5.6, 15/4.5, 21/3.5, and 40/1.2 all in E-mount. Not only do I love the images I get from each of them, shooting with them is such a pleasure as they are fairly lightweight, superbly crafted, and possessed of real character. They are all DCH lenses and will be passed on to my sons at that point. Steve

Good question. Thinking about this has made me wonder if I’m rather more fickle than I thought ….

Two years ago, I would have confidently said the Nokton 50/1.2. That suddenly changed to the 75/1.5. But, for the last nine months or so, I’d have to say the APO Lanthar 50/2.0 (although I’ve also got a very soft spot for the Ultron 28/2.0).

The combination of the uniform, corner-to-corner sharpness and the rendering of the 50/2 is just amazing. But I’ve also found that converting to B&W in LR can look wonderful. I’ve got a roll of Adox CMS ISO 20 to try in my MP, which I’m mainly going to use with this lens. Can’t wait!
