Agree, a communication problem with the card (or lens) may be the issue. I use high quality cfexpress cards from Prograde and have never experienced problems in heat (>32 deg C) or cold (<-15 deg C) with the R5/R3.

I agree it does sound like a potential card problem. I doubt it's weather related.

Explain more about the cards you use, whether camera is set up to write to both slots. If single card then which one: CFe or SD?

Canada last year I shot for hours in -26 with no issue at all - other than my nostrils and eyelashes freezing up lol.
As others have said - more likely a card issue.
