Dear all,

Anybody adapting the ZM 50/2 Planar to Sony ?

Is the performmance comparable to the equivalent Loxia ?
I have the loxia, but I want a lighter lens for a secondary all M mount kit.

Thanks in advance for any infos.

I owned both it and the Loxia 50 at the same time, around the time the rII was released. The Loxia showed slightly less field curvature and had better corners until about f/5.6, but you really have to look for the differences. If you were happy with the Loxia, I doubt you'll be unhappy with the ZM. For what it's worth, the '76 redesign of the Summicron-M 50 (vIV or V) is objectively a better lens on both an M and the stock Sony sensor.

I like the loxia, not in love with it, but i like it.

I have now the cron iv for m kit. In night photography is quite bad. Very intense inner reflections, even in non-challenging situations. With the sun in the frame also very bad.

I would say alternatives (the ones i have identified) are the vm 50/1.5, vm 50/2.5, the elmar-m 50/2.8 and the zm planar. I like the rendering of the cron but the usage as a landscape for golden or blue hour or night photography is not optimal.
