Hi,

I don't want to spend the money on the Z version of the 105mm micro so I would like to know if I using the AF-S 105mm VR with my Z8 camera will produce excellent results when doing automatic focus shifting?

I have done it with my Z-mount version of the 105mm macro... and if the Z8 will let you do focus stacking with the older AF-s lens, then I'd assume that you would get excellent results... maybe not as excellent as the current Z-mount lens, but as long as you get the gaps between shots in check, you're golden.
