Update: The Hasselblad 907X 100C Medium Format Mirrorless Camera is now in stock at B&H Photo:
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1803225-REG/hasselblad_cphb0000086601_hasselblad_907x_cfv_100c.html

User Manual can be found here: https://www.hasselblad.com/my-hasselblad/downloads/#167

Interesting that IBIS did not make it over, especially after the menu showing it was included in some of the regulatory filings.

On page 104 of the User Manual, you can select between 14 bit and 16 bit depth, and setting it to 14 bits leads to: "users can experience faster capture and decreased blackout time between shots.", so it should be like on a GFX body, where you're now looking at about ~140ms for scan-time instead of ~333ms.

Shame about the IBIS but I’m still very interested in acquiring one of these down the line to pair with my 503CW.

Surprised how long this thread took to get made. No love for Hasselblad on here!

Good find. Thanks for posting!

"Last fall, Hasselblad asked me to evaluate advance copies of the CFV 100C and 907X. This review is based upon that evaluation. At Hasselblad’s request, I have delayed publication of this post until the public announcement of the camera, which occurred today." –Jim Kasson

I am sure there is a lot of love for this camera. But this is very expensive love
I know that if I have this camera I will want at least 2 lenses, so we are talking about $15ooo - $17ooo

But I would choose this over any Leica every time

I have all the lenses but will probably give the 907x/100c a pass. No IBIS is a hard one and I'd want to be off a tripod, mostly. I have the 907x/50 through and it's a spectacularly fun camera to shoot with. I can see this with a 28P and 45P as a tiny MF kit.

I do have two X2D's so I don't need it. It's just the rear screen flip is hindered by the EF hump on that camera. SO it's. not the best waist level shooting experience. But the IBIS is soooo good.

You can do the same on the X2D. Still very slow and tons of panning distortion though.

Gorgeous camera. Rather than upgrading my X1DII would it make sense to complement it with this one?

If you're a tripod shooter, maybe. The IBIS on the X2D is sensational. And personally, I think I'd go with an X2D and 907x/50C if you wanted one of each. I think for now, I'll keep my 50MP in 907x form as IBIS is less impactful.

But it is possibly the most beautiful digital camera made.

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree. As mentioned somewhere else on these pages the same designer as the Leica Q. His name is Vincent Laine and he worked for Leica for 4 years, after that 2 years for Hasselblad and now for some Scandinavian outdoor brand.

I want one. It's too expensive, but I want one.

The camera itself is decently priced for what you get. My problem is the ancillary purchases made necessary by ownership. I'd have to have the 38 and 80 to start. I'd work out justification for the 28 and 55 later. I'd need some kind of plate for it, since it will spend a lot of time on a tripod, but I'd also want the remote release X for it, because I'd like to see what I can get away with one handing the camera and triggering it with the other. And I'd have to see how the back does with my Rodenstock lenses, which means acquiring an Actus DB. Also, I'll have to acquire shutters, since the Rodenstocks are aperture-only mounts. I wouldn't necessarily have to change out my M39 boards for Copal 0s, since the Copal nuts cover the size difference without issue, but having the right sized holes makes it easier to center the lenses on the board, so I'd probably do it. Then I'd have to acquire a V camera because I'd rationalize it as critical to getting full use of the back, plus lenses.

So, yeah, way too expensive. But I want one.

The omission of the IBIS is a bit of a head scratcher. I get that its form factor lends itself for tripod based work ... BUT, it also lends itself toward WAIST LEVEL work, which is hand held, and the IBIS would be a nice feature for that.

Granted, the X2D has a flip screen, but the hand holding position (as designed) isn't the same.

I haven't gotten my hands on the 907x body yet, but looking at the direction of the shutter release, it is pressed in the direction that is inline (albeit offset) / parallel to the lens axis. The shutter release direction of force on a regular camera (X2D, etc.) is perpendicular (and offset) to the lens axis.

I dig on the leaf shutter having offsetting forces, vs. a focal plane shutter, which makes for a more stable camera. Leaf shutter, on axis shutter release AND IBIS would be the best of all worlds at mitigating camera related vibrations / movement. Two out of three ain't bad ... but, dang all THREE would have been the ideal. It's not like they didn't have the room in the body (vs. body size of X2D) ... so,

Not sure I need 100MP (read, I don't need it), so what's the main "upside" of getting the 100MP version (other than the 100MP) of the 907x, vs. the 50MP version? The X2D is attractive for the flip screen / IBIS. Not sure the attraction for the new 100MP 907x vs. the older 50MP 907x is as compelling. Although, I might still need to do a deeper dive into it ... even if the lack of IBIS is a bummer.

Secretly wishing that the hardware for the IBIS is in place for the 100MP 907x ... just waiting for some firmware to finish coding, before updating an implementation. Yeah, dreamin'.

I think they're going to do well in the tech camera and digital view camera end of things. With an effective flange distance of zero, all those nice wide angles from Schneider-Kreuznach and Rodenstock are usable, and for a small fraction of the cost of a Phase One back.

For people who want Hasselblad, 100 MP, and hand holding, the X2D body seems like a better choice.

I spent some time yesterday with a set of files from a colleague who has one of these. The colour out of Phocus is very pleasing. No fuss, no muss, nice colour. The good news is the Camera Matching profile in Lightroom is very close to what Phocus produces.

Alas, having not the money for this thing, plus all the additional stuff I'd have to get to use it with my F-Universalis, I will have to enjoy it vicariously.

Pretty much this. I bought an X2D a year ago and IBIS makes a big difference at this level of resolution. Pairing it with even the most up-to-date V system lenses, that 102MP sensor makes a mockery of several of the lenses from 40mm to 80mm. it does do well with the 100mm 3.5 and 180mm 4.0 though, I use my X2D with an adapter on those.

I did have a 907X / CFVII 50C that I sold a month back for a decent price in anticipation of this announcement. My goal is to wait until later this year and buy one back for cheaper which may or may not work out price wise. I probably should have just kept it since I love using my V system so much.

Either way, it sure is good to see Hasselblad keeping things going with these great options, tying the X and V systems together with one clean and easy to use unit.

I've used the 50MP sensor in three different cameras now (645Z, Phase IQ50 on an Actus, and the GFX 50sII). It is a gorgeous sensor, but it's also an old FSI design with some limitations. The 100 gets you better dynamic range and high ISO performance overall. Plus, you can shoot at higher ISOs and down res the noise away if you don't need full resolution. The BSI design's a much better fit with tech cameras, eliminating a lot of the crosstalk (color shading) issues of the 50. The AF should be nice step up. You also get a TB of internal memory and a CFE-B slot instead of two SD card slots (that one could go either way, though- personally, I'd rather have the SD slots).

Except for the IBIS, the same advantages as the X2D. 1TB super fast storage. PDAF focusing. True 16 bit files (50MP is 14 bit). It also has a TTL hotshoe adaptor the original 907x lacked. The waist level experience is vastly better than the X2D. Fater startup time. Recessed power button (yay!).

I think an IBIS version will appear in a year or so. But it'll probably only work with XCD lenses. Not sure how they'd sort V lenses.

Argh. All the YouTuber’s… “No, no, I know what I said last week about the ___ but THIS is the BEST camera EVER!” Too scared to get blacklisted by manufacturers to say otherwise. I can’t watch these shills anymore. They used to provide some good information but have completely turned into subsidized advertisements. Even Steve Huff came back from the dead to proclaim the CFV 100C is THE camera. JFC…

Also, what is the strategy for getting my money now? 100MP+, pixel binning, global shutter? Non of this crap improves my photography, nor do I care for any of these features. Now I’m building systems with specific use cases like, wildlife, landscape, and travel, using older tech and used equipment at crazy values. My money has been going to MPB instead of manufacturers latest and greatest. I have a D5 setup, a Leica 007 setup, and a Leica M6 setup which are all fun and unique and combined cost less than a new CFV 100C.

I've been watching too many Hasselblad sponsored CFV 100C videos too. But that's because my interest is growing in the old made new again modular concept--seems very logical and appealing to me in 2024.

The good thing about the sponsored videos is we get a chance to see a lot of coverage often from different perspectives. So I learn a lot about the new product relatively quickly and not much different than the rep at a shop/event pushing their products. OTOH, I can also turn to the forum/threads to read about perceived weaknesses/faults from others with more experience which IMO provides a good balance.

As I mentioned, so far I like what I a seeing and reading. Initially, I'm not concerned about lack of IBIS, but I've never hand held shot a 100MP Medium Format camera before, so I am paying close attention to comments from those that have.

I was quite surprised to see him shooting the same areas I frequent. And, he did so in my backyard ... had I known, we could have put the 50MP of my X1D II vs. the 907X / 100C.
