p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Hidden Flower (so interesting... at least to me) | |
So I recently discovered a new variety of apple called Lucy Glo apples. They're delicious (like berries and apples had a baby named cotton candy), kind of blah looking (on the outside), and deep purple/pink on the inside. These were the first "red" fleshed apples I'd ever eaten. As I was eating them I realized that around the core, the flesh is white, so I cut one in half along the equator. It turns out the area around the core of the apple looks like a flower. It's white and it's sitting in a field of pink flesh. After looking at it for just a second I realized it didn't look like just any flower, but like an apple blossom. It's like the apple blossom that made that apple is hiding inside the apple. I'm guessing this structure is inside of all apples, but normally you can't see it because most apples are just all white inside. Anyway, I decided to take some pics:

More interesting back-lit cross sections:

As always, CC are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
