I must say that that R50 of yours is quite capable. This thread is a nice opportunity to bring forth the 600 f/11 with its 960mm FoV on crop and 330g, 3/4 lbs lighter than the 800/11. So I thought I´d throw in a better body, the R10. Though it is 54g, 2 oz, heavier, it has essentially the same specs. Slightly better buffer, but the rest of the small differences are beyond my interest/level of ignorance at present.
After using both of the Mighty f/11´s, I would say that the 600 would be my choice on crop. Yes, 1280mm is narrower, but 960mm is plenty narrow. Those extra 320mm come with the added weight and price, but perhaps most importantly with a substantial addition of bulk. Extended, with the hood on, the 800 is 440mm, 17 1/3" long. To make an unfair comparison the 600 is only 224mm, 8 4/5" long in transport mode.
Both does very well on the demanding R7 sensor.
