I hadn't had much luck with the owls who were keeping their distance last week at Fir Island, WA. My wife and I were almost back to the car when a harrier flew close. Luckily I was walking with the camera in my hand and managed to grab these BIF shots just as the sun came out below some clouds.

Those are really nice Jim, sweet light and nice backgrounds on the flight shots. My favourite member of the hawk family for their lovely colouring and the way they sore low over the fields, great replacement for a Short Eared Owl. Now if I can just get a few photo's of the adult Male Grey Ghost.....

Nice back lit captures, and the beautiful landscape capture with the hand glider or bird (it could go either way) in the last image.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I really lucked out with the light. Like I mentioned in the OP the sun had gone behind clouds, which was part of why we were headed back to the car, but then it came out below them for a few minutes right when this female flew by.
