What is a good, relatively affordable flash for the Leica CL Digital?

If you want TTL, only original leica speedlight.
For manual use, anyone that use central pin for triggering.

Unfortunately for TTL use you are limited to the (expensive) Leica flash units. The SF24D is probably the cheapest, but the SF40 and 60 are better units. I don't think the SF20 is TTL capable on the CL but may be wrong.

I have the SF40 and I'm not convinced: it lacks power to be used with the diffuser or bouncing and if not, the head is very small and gives a harsh light.
And worst, when using it with the M11, the exposure is ok but great. The exposure correction moves has its own life or to be precise is too easy to move.

I get better results using old Metz flashes with the SCA 3205 adapter in A mode.

Yes, unfortunately I think Leica has done a poor job on flash in general over the years. I don't know why they just don't reinvigorate their relationship with Metz or another flash company and let them produce modern, capable flash units. Even the SF60 is lacking on my SL2 and M11. My Nikon flash units are much more capable. Disappointing.

I have Leica SF40 as well as Godox Junior. SF40 is Ttl and works well for most scenarios but is fair size. Godox is a small go everywhere option.
