Just ordered a R7 and was wondering if my old Canon 430EX speedlite ,ya I know it is old but I only use it for fill flash only occasionally, would still work on the R7 I just bought.
Thanks in advance

There was just a similar thread about this. Yes, the old flash should work just fine. If the R7 has the multifunction hot shoe, you'll only need the adapter if you want to maintain the weather seal. Otherwise it functions without it.

My 430EX II works fine on my R7—shows in the flash menu too—but feels huge on such a tiny camera. I have a much older flash, 220EX bought in the 1990s, and it works fine too. I think just as long as it E-TTL (EX) it should work. The older EZ series Speedlites are merely TTL and only work in manual power mode.
