Absolutely. I bought 2 from amazon for like 20 or 30 bucks a piece. Such a great little light to have in the bag. 10/10 would recommend.

Interesting. As a wedding photographer (full-time for almost 20 years), I have *never* used artificial light for my ring shots. Always shoot in nice flat even lighting.

A couple of our photographers use the LumeCubes with great results. There are so many sub-100USD awesome lights now. My current go to is the IVISII G2 - lots of power & totally tuneable.

It has a really fun party cycle that rotates through a series of great atmospheric hues. II'll place my light down low on a dark dance floor while I'm shooting the dance party at ƒ1.2 or 1.4. The clients love it (the photographer brought his own party light!) and I'm smitten with the images. The OCF on stands key the key light normal on faces while the down low LED light adds the flavor.

Overkill for rings, but check out ...

Zhiyun M20C

Has a kit that comes with magnetic diffusor, grid, barndoors, etc — lots of power for night shooting couples as well.

Would be a better match with the ProFoto B series than a smaller light

Could you use the lights at a 1' distance from the palm of your hand and take a light reading from your palm?
I am curious about the level of illumination from such inexpensive lights, to determine their usability for an actual shot.

Yeah absolutely. Plenty of light from that distance. Ive actually used them as portrait lights in dark rooms. You'd be surprised how much light they have.
