This had to be the most hyperactive young Tricolor Heron I've ever witnessed. Usually they are like statues, waiting to ambush prey. It was almost comical the way he strutted all around, doing a great job of scaring away the fish, and coming up empty handed.

I saw him first land in the distance...

Then he decided to cruise into a spot closer to me

Well, at least he provided some comic relief and a fun set of pic's. I'm sure he'll learn to hunt properly eventually.

Great set of images. You caught some beautiful hunting shots, they do put on a show for you when they are hunting. Very well done Eric.

Thanks Bruce! Ft Desoto is awesome and only 1hr south of me. I haven't been back since I got the A7RV... thanks for the idea, I need to make the trip.
