I was just about to click on Buy Now for the Guru Gear Kiboko 16L. But then I started thinking for my needs the butterfly access was not for me and my needs. It was all about weight and distribution when out hiking. A note about Guru Gear. In all the backpacks I've tried? The zippers are the smoothest I've seen.
On that note I started looking at F-Stop again. They are having a nice sale on many of their bags. I have been looking at the Guru 25l UL since it's small and light out of the box at 2.6lbs. The only problem is, and I can't get a straight answer from F-Stop, the bag is old vs the newer bags.
Then I saw they have a brand new bag out. F-Stop Lotus 4 Core 28L. For the bag only it's only $50 more than the Guru 25L. Only 4 oz more in weight at 3lbs. But it's taller. 22.8 inches vs 19. Which has me thinking the airlines are starting to get picky about carryon's now. Now I have some thinking to do....Show more →
I've got my eye on that new Lotus as well, as my 10+ year old Guru is looking a bit torn and frayed (figuratively speaking), though still works perfectly. I know a lot of people don't like F-Stop (as there are now other, cheaper options out there), but you do get what you pay for, and they've refined their packs over the years to include features that I consider required if I ever buy a pack. Best warranty in the business (only had to use once for a seam failure).
