Some shots from Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge in Washington State. The Short-eared owls were amazing, flying around us in circles while they played and hunted.

It's such a fantastic place, even if all the wildlife is (understandably) skittish from all the obnoxious hunting gunshots this time of the year.

Yeah I didn't quite get the closer range I wanted, so these are a bit of a crop sadly.

Strangely enough, these were the first owls I had seen since moving to Oregon; they must put on a daily show, as there were a lot of cars waiting on that part of the loop!

Same over here in Chicago. Mini-blip 2 weeks ago and then we've been back to 50s and even 60s. The last of the leaves still holding on. Nice to extend it before Winter sets in!
