Terrible idea to buy anything of value with Paypal FF, but i'm sure you know that.

Of course, I’m quite aware of that. I’ve done numerous dealings over FB marketplace and some Sony groups in FB. I did my due diligence before submitting the offer to the member here but he didn’t want anything to do with me, haha.

When I first started doing b&s here I provided references to other sites where I was active (using the same name as here), and my ebay account which I no longer use but had solid feedback then. My PP is also verified or whatever they call it. Any of these might be worth pointing out in PMs, if applicable.

It is tough to be a seller these days, even when you are using regular PP or other payment methods, it can be a long road to get your money or your stuff back in the event PP sides with a buyer's protest. I would not hold it too strongly against a seller.

Thank you for posting this. I used the link to pick up two Lexar 320GB for $195 each total delivered price. Looks like these are $480 each on B&H. Really pleased with this deal.

I am tempted but hope the cards are genuine. I am always hesitant to buy memory cards from China, lol.

I would wait a bit for further reduction at 135/1.8

Hope you get genuine cards. One thing I would never cheap out on is memory card. No point in having a fancy camera if all the pictures end up corrupt.

Don't take it personally. There are too many scammers, and some people just don't want to deal with it. Once you build enough reputation on the forum here, there are bunch of hobbyists here and lenses gets exchanged (bought/sold) on the B&S forum regularly for reasonable prices.

Almost always a better idea to buy stuff used here than new. It's like BF all year round. I would say half of my gear is new and the other half I purchased here on FM.

True, but there are a lot of members here who have been around a long time and have a good track record. I have purchased and sold a few things on PayPal FF here without any issues.

I purhcased mine on Prime Day for $475. It will go lower. Samyang 35-150 is also selling for under $900 now. Samyang lenses go on fire sale kind of discount pretty frequently.

Ali Express good fakes are almost indistinguishable from genuine products. They sell BH and Zeiss filters for $15 that sell brand new in the US for $100+. I advise to stay away from AliExpress except cheap stuff like colored plastic flash filter, plastic lens hoods, etc.

I’m a little surprised that after a great Black Friday sale last year, DXO’s is a bit disappointing this year (so far).

It is Aliexpress, there is no 100% guarantee that those cards are legit, and if something is or goes wrong, I doubt you'll have any recourse.

I think it is more like, "there is a 100% guarantee that those cards are NOT legit", haha

I’ve never had Amex or Citi not back me on a claim so I’m not worried about this even if it goes sideways.

If it's good fakes, I wouldn't worry about it if I paid much cheaper. There was once I got some BW filter later I found out to be fake. But they seem to be better than the genuine ones. Filters are not expensive or difficult to make technically.

I'm more worried about bad fakes on AliExpress, and then be stuck with an expensive return policy.

I recently had an awful experience with Ali Express. I ordered a BrightinStar 28mm lens, and basically it got lost in the mail. Ali Express essentially gave me the finger. Once they have your money, that where it ends for them.

(long story on another thread)

I knew I read something about Lexar on Alibaba earlier. I'll run some speed tests when it arrives.

Edit : Nevermind. Saw the rest of replies. Will stay away.

That's pretty good deal. Never bought anything from this site. Can it be trusted?

I've had good luck with Pergear. I trust Lexar too. On aliexpress the Lexar Official Store is selling the 320gb CF-A card for $208. Free shipping. AE15US takes $15 off. Less than $200 pre sales tax shipped is pretty good.

I didn’t take it personally when the seller in B&S didn’t want to sell to me, I get it. That’s why I offered the PayPal FF to put him/her at ease but still no go. It’s fine as it save me money on a want rather than a need, haha.

Yeah that’s why I asked about Aliexpress. Some of my buddies at work have used it that along with Temu (for clothing, Nike, etc.) and the items are definitely fakes. But who’s to say they didn’t come from the same factory though? I definitely won’t trust it for more than cheap goods.

Good luck though! Looking forwards to your test!

One thing one needs to remember is that AliExpress is just a market place. There are good and bad sellers on it. Same as on eBay, Amazon, Walmart etc. Yes, walmart.com also is a market place where some items are sold/shipped by private sellers. With that in mind, who knows maybe that particular AliExpress seller is actually selling “genuine” CFExpress cards but his reputation will be damaged by others selling fakes. Back in the day, when Canon 1DXII came out, I bought “fake” Lexar CFast cards on eBay for half the price. These were shipped straight from China. Couple of years later one of them started to give me random corrupted files. I contacted Lexar US and had all cards replaced by Lexar with new cards. At the end, these “fake” eBay cards turned out to be actually genuine Lexar products or good enough fakes to convince even Lexar to replace them under the warranty
On the other hand, recently I bought a 1TB SD card off AliExpress for literally a $1. Of course the card went dead after the 3rd use. But I wasn’t expecting much anyways And yes, AliExpress can be difficult with returns.
Moral of the story is that if you can afford to risk it, I don’t see a problem with trying out those CFE-A cards. I might buy one myself but only to run it as the backup card. Not the only/primary card I’m writing to.
