Hi everyone. I spent 8 nights in the Kwara Concession of the Okavango Delta. The area is known for its predators and I was hoping to spend time with the resident big cats as well as wild dogs. It took lots of amazing tracking work by my guides, but we had some wonderful sightings in my time there.

With regards to equipment, I took two Canon R5s. One with the 600mm F/4 and the other with the new 100-300 F/2.8. On the 100-300 I had the 1.4 extender attached for 95% of the photos I took with it. This was my first trip with the combo and despite the weight during travel, I was really happy with it. The 140-420mm/600mm range was great.

these are fantastic. nice eye level POV for many. The carmine beeeaters are awesome.
I am scheduled to go there in July 24.

Thank you. I had to contort myself to get to eye level on some of them, the vehicle wasn't very conducive to getting low.

In my research I had learned that the Kwara concession was known for its productive sightings and good guiding. All of the camps are run by the same company, Kwando. In corresponding with them I was clear that photography was my priority and I requested a guide who understood the needs of photographers. That said, in watching the other guides, I don't think there were any bad choices. In Botswana where they have a lower volume/higher cost model, it seems to attract a higher quality of guiding.
