Sort of. The color will change on the Z9 to show focus confirmation. However, you're limited to a small focus point. What the ZF does is allow subject detection. It doesn't allow tracking in MF. The subject detection will pick up either a face or eye and then stick on it allowing you to focus until the box turns green. It works well if you limit the focus area to a small or large box. It's frustrating if you use the full focus area.
Worth mentioning that Nikon really does need to bring this option to the Z9. Canon's R5 already has subject and eye detection for MF lenses that are chipped. What the ZF does, however, that the R5 doesn't is allow immediate zooming in to the subject detected area.
