Aside from a dust blower or a lens brush, what tools or implements do you have in your tool kit? Please share your genre of shooting too.
For my travel kit I I use a generic Chinese tool pouch and keep the following on me at all times:
1) USB-A to Type-C cable
2) Pen
3) Gorilla tape + Painters Tape wrapped on a credit card
4) Multitool card (swapped out for a full multitool when not traveling)
5) Lens tissues
6) Blower
7) Lens pen

My travel pack contains the necessary items I need when travelling like water, sun screen, hat etc...

Chez how often do you clean your sensor? I don't trust myself with a diy kit so I've only had the cleanings done at LCS. Do you find a need to clean the lens while traveling?

I clean it whenever it requires cleaning. If debri cannot removed via blower, I clean the sensor. I view and clean ( if necessary ) every evening when travelling. Many times the sensor is clean ( enough ) but there certainly been times when travelling I had to clean the sensor.

It’s really quite simple to clean your own sensor.

Tape. Lots of tape. Gaff and duct tape rolled around tripods and lightstands. Some electrical tape too.

USB-C cable and compact charger, small roll of 1-inch gaff tape, small rechargeable flashlight, bladed or non-bladed multitool (land vs. air travel), various lens cleaning stuff (lens pens, cloths, small blower with brush), paracord, small carabiner(s) and/or Hero Clip, pen (with spacepen refill), small notebook.

I'm probably forgetting something, but I tend to be a bit of a fanatic about being prepared for any eventuality even if I rarely actually use any of the stuff. "Might be useful" is a mantra my mother apparently drilled into me as a kid

When I just go out, nothing but camera(s) and lens(es), because I dislike carrying a bag at all. When photographing birds, my bag gets some extras, but mostly it’s a ton of stuff in the car to cope with weather conditions. Same for model shoots, but another set of extra stuff. And it’s all the usual, except for a flashlight when shooting at sunset, so I can find all my stuff when the shoot ends and it got dark.

I’m not sure what category to put my photos in. I’ve asked others and the answer I get is “who cares. They’re your pictures and that’s all”. I just go outside and I take photos of things that grab my attention.

In my bag I have (only when traveling)

1) lens pen
2) microfiber cloth
3) VSGO lens cleaning cloth and lens cleaning fluid (I use this for the filters if I use one)
4) VSGO IMP blower with soft flexible tip
5) extra battery and sd cards.

That’s it.

But when I go out casually I just put the Leica in the Leica soft pouch and in there I have a lens cloth and an SD card and that’s all. I leave the pouch in the car and take off with the camera like that and I put the cloth in my pocket. No bags.

My sensor swabs I keep at home. I clean my sensor with the blower and if there’s something that is visible and if it can’t come out then I use sensor swabs VSGO APS-C size. I like APS-C size because I can just clean the spot that needs cleaning instead of one big blind swipe that will probably not get it all anyway.

Also the reason I don’t bother doing this if it’s not in The house is because sensor dust is impossible to see clearly. You may see some but not all. So to clean the sensor (which I’ve only done this way maybe 2 or 3 times in 2 years), is I have to use a magnifying lamp with a 5x and 10x magnifier so I can see where the dust spot is. Usually to see it I have to shove my eye inside the smaller 10x magnifier and turn up the light all the way up. It shows everything.

Otherwise the blower takes care of most of it. I know there is some but unless I see it in my photos I leave it alone.

To this I think contributes the fact that I’m a 1 lens person. Before I leave I know the lens I’m going to use and I keep it the whole day. 90% is my 50mm and for some destinations I may need a 35mm. But I know which one I’ll need before I leave. I don’t swap lenses when I’m outside shooting.

A camera should be cleaned every time after you use it or before you leave to use it. Camera and the lens. Before I leave I check my camera and my lens. They should be spotless. Lenspen takes care of the lens. Also a micro-lenspen for the viewfinder. I brush every nook and cranny of the camera and the lens. Then I head out.

For filters I use them when at the beach. The water in the air will cover your lens. So before I start taking photos I put on the lens clear filter. I have one Leica and one B+W for my Nokton 35mm. If you put a drop of The lens cleaning fluid on the VSCO lens wipe the filter will be spotless clean in seconds. And you can see it covered in the sea water when you get back.

I always bring Zeiss wipes. Good for both lenses and bodies. If anything gets on my gear, I clean it before it does damage.

You can get a box of them for cheap at Walmart's optical or electronic department.

first time I used the eyelead on my Olympus EM1mk2, almost had an heart attack seing what was happening - since then I learned to apply a gentle pressure on the sensor.
Not an issue with old dslrs

you mean followed the instructions? i've been using it for about 6+ years now. its what every tech uses to clean up the sensors. every show i went to that was being used. so i picked one up and its saved me also reduces the cleaning time/effort.

The sensor was moving all over and it was sticking a bit too much > mind you that I was using it on a 1Dx prior
It's not that I applied a lot a pressure - it was sticking way more than the 1dx sensor.

Anyway, it stays at home or goes on vacations when hotel is the main accommodation.
I have been carrying a power bank and usb charger , but just with smaller cameras. There are a few other items that come along in special outings

- it's different on the olympus - but one was to own it to know
Regardless it works very well on other sensors - Leica and Canon, but not something I would keep in my bag for daily basis -travel then yes, if staying in hotel

There are things that one needs when out-and-about, but I check and clean (if needed) before heading out - gaffers tape is an item that seldon gets used, but surely comes handy
So do other items to repel four or two legged creatures, but that's a different story....
