Anyone using eye control for exposure lock?

On my EOS3, I use the following steps to bias exposure to a specific part of the frame using eye control.

I love how fast this technique is, and how it give you more granular control of the image, which is especially helpful shooting film

  1. back button with Eye Control to select focus point for the part of the frame I want to expose for (EOS3 has a heavy metering bias towards the focus point, even without using spot metering linked to focus point mode)
  2. half press shutter and hold to lock exposure
  3. back button focus again to desired focus point

This can also be used to determine the range of exposure in the frame.

Is anyone else doing this with the EOS3 or the R3? Can it even be done with the R3? That is the only other camera that would be able to as far as I know.
