As I am getting older, carrying my Kimoko 22L on my back while traveling is beginning to get a little tricky. All the camera roller bags I can find are organized with a lot of padding, and don't leave a whole lot of room for clothes etc. Any suggestions on a simple roller camera bag that would be good for carry-on? I am half tempted to purchase a
Briggs & Riley baseline type bag and customize it with velcrow & dividers.

Maybe a camera bag insert ? They come in various sizes/shapes. I like the concept as I can use my stylish messenger bags and backpacks to carry my camera gear.

Should work in your situation also since you want to carry clothes and camera gear in the same bag.

Thanks Ron; I do carry a lot of gear, so perhaps its time to customize an existing roller. I love my gura gear 22L+ though, wish I could find a way to have it attached to a wheeled luggage and be stable.

Why not just put the Gura Gear bag inside a carry-on roller? Not sure how much room would be left over for clothes... That way once at your destination, you still have a bag you can carry around. If you use a 'camera cube' insert in a standard carry-on roller, you will still need some sort of carry solution for use at the destination, unless your destination is urban with smoothly paved streets and sidewalks ideal for a roller bag.

I have taken a different approach and added a "personal item" size bag to my main backpack. The 32L backpack when fully loaded weighed in at 37 lbs and so I decided to add a second bag that qualified as a personal item and fits under the seat in front of me. I put my netbook and heavy items inside the smaller bag and so the backpack that I am putting up in the overhead bin weighs 10-15 lbs. less.

I have long used a small folding cart to haul the 32L backpack around. This one from Samsonite is durable and cost me less than $30. It is compact enough to fit in the overhead bin with my backpack on top of it.
