Actually, this is still helpful to understand when and what enhancements were made in LR. I’d like to go back and reprocess some of my old files - obviously once I get caught up! So it’s good to know what was updated and when.

This would be from 2017 to February 2023

If you start on this page (page 2) and work your way forward there was a big one at version 12.3 on April 18.

Version 13.

Sorry I can't help here. I stoped using them and removed them off my system.

Actually for accuracy Adobe release them about 2 years ago. Around the time the R3 was released. Where does time go these days? Seems like that happened last week.

I just had Colin from Color fidelity send me version 5b. So it looks like there is an update from the version 5, I received in early 2021.

Tried to find a photo with a lot of color for this. In order: Camera Standard, Adobe Standard, Color Fidelity.

For what it's worth I find Color Fidelity to be the closest to the camera JPEGs.

He is very good to deal with. I know if I asked he would send them again.

Possible to include Adobe Color? That is the default profile now. Thanks

Here you go. I added Cobalt's R5 Standard and Color profile just to give more example. In order: Camera Standard, Adobe Standard, Adobe Color, Color Fidelity R5 Standard, Cobalt R5 Standard, Cobalt Colors.

Thanks Scott. That will help others. While waiting for Adobe I was using Color Fidelity and Adobe Color and actually warmed up to Adobe Color.

As I said I now use Neutral. If anyone is interested. I first tried Tony Kuypers profiles and the came across this.

I have found the Canon profiles from Adobe to be quite good and have now switched from Color Fidelity. I agree with the earlier comment that Canon Neutral is a good place to start, though I've usually found Canon Faithful to be better.

Interesting that Colin has updated the CF profiles recently. I'll have to download them and give a try.

I was not aware of the update. He's pretty good. He could have just stopped at some point.

Updated post:

I missed you post @Zenon Char -

Thanks for the link, It appears I get the most out of linear profiles because I use luminance masks a lot and find them to be a very useful tool to get the look I want.

Another option is Tony Kuyper's Linear profiles

I really like the "flat" starting point they give me. I pretty much only use the Linear profiles now.

Cheers

I guess this is one time it's nice to be partially color blind. I don't see any differences between all the above comparison images. At least not enough to be of concern.

There isn't much difference. The terra cotta shingles show some difference but Canon reds and Adobe reds and yellows are different and there wasn't much of that. Personally I just got tired of trying to decide and as a hobby shooter I just need pleasing colour for myself.

Actually Alex makes a reference to Tony Kuyper. I started with Tony's profiles and then went over to Alex's suggestions.

Just re-read Alex Kunz article just to refresh the old coconut. He says yes you can't recover highlights which is true. He is not big on Auto but Tony Kuyper. I know it's kinda lazy edit but it's just my staring point. What I did notice using Linear and then Adobe Neutral was it did not blow out highlights that weren't in the blown in the first place. Shadows and blacks jut looked better to me.

I also agree with Alex and have thought for a long time that Auto plays better with Adobe profiles. Anything that gets off to a good start quicker works for me. Then I fine tune. Just a few examples. 3 different profiles and then I pressed Auto.

1st is Adobe Color

2nd is Canon Neutral

3rd is Adobe Neutral. The chest just looks so nice and even. Backs and shadows are the same. Adobe Neutral lacks a little push so I add blacks and contrast. Something I don't have to do for the others. This works for my needs.

These are screen shots so OOF.

Overall there isn’t a massive difference. Once you start making edits like increasing contrast or saturation the differences become more apparent but still not massive. The biggest difference I see is in the shadows; the adobe camera matching profile really crush the shadows and you get a lot of black clipping whereas Color Fidelity doesn’t do that as much.

Yes exactly. Profiles like Adobe Color are designed for that instant punch. A selling feature. The first file is Adobe Color and the second Adobe Neutral and neither has any adjustments. I can always bring the Adobe Color blacks down but I'm not sure if it will be enough. Easier for me to start wth Adobe Neutral and put life into the file and colours. Easier to control the blacks which I also finding for the highlights.

It takes a while to get used to the flat start but after making adjustments I just kept coming back to Adobe Neutral. Just looked more natural to me.
