Just wanted to check with those processing Canon R5 RAW files in LR. Has there been any update in LR's raw presets for the Canon R5 camera in the last 2 years

I switched over to the Colour fidelity presets, but have not been processing much for the past year - I've got around close to 1.5 TB to process. Before I start I thought i'd check if there is any improvements in LR, or its better to just continue using the presets that colour fidelity came out with 2021

Using LrC/ACR. About a year ago Adobe LrC released camera profiles for the R5.

I find Color Fidelity still the best. There's a new process version 6, you won't be able to tell the difference though. It's basically the same, but I don't see that as a bad thing.

Do you know if you have to purchase a new version, or if upgrades are included, how to update the version. I currently have v5.

I used them as well waiting for Adobe. These days I use Adobe Neutral. Preserves detail in the highlights, shadows and blacks and there is more control with the sliders. Getting life back into the image is fast and easy.

Oh, you're a bit out of date then We're at 12 now, and it's only a subscription plan. Always up to date, as long as you pay. Then the party's over.

Version 5 of what?

Lightroom (Lr) which is the desktop cloud version introduced in 2017 is now version 7.

Lightroom Classic (LrC) which is desktop with local file storage now version 13.

The last time LR5 had an update was in 2015.

The last time LR6 had an update was in December of 2017. That was the last stand alone version.

Process version numbers have to do with colour, etc updates. Process version 5 was released with LrC 8 in 2018 and was a big one. It corrected the problem of high ISO blacks turning purple. Process version 6 was released with LrC 13 a month ago and I didn't see any major changes either.

I lost camera support my R5 with DXO PL3 unless I paid for PL4. I would have had to buy PL5 or 6 for get support for m R7 and R6II. I had PureRaw1 but last January I had to pay forPureRaw2 to get support for one of those bodies.

All the developer companies are the same. Every fall new versions come out and they don't support the previous versions.

My mistake. Process version 6 was released with LrC 12.4 last June. No wonder I couldn't find the description.

Process Version 6

There’s a new Process Version, PV6, that you may spot in the Calibration panel. It’s a relatively minor change, this time with the aim of reducing banding. You don’t need to do anything… any PV3-PV5 photos are automatically updated to PV6 when you make any edits. The changes are small enough that you won’t likely want to update older photos in bulk.

LrC 8 in 2018. Dehaze improvement as well.

Process Version 5

The Process Version has been updated in order to improve Dehaze and purple noise.

Moving Dehaze to the left could have some unexpected results in earlier versions, like the strange yellow shown below, and high ISO photos could turn purple in the shadows in some circumstances, but these issues are fixed in PV5. You don’t need to update your existing photos unless they exhibit one of these issues.

I even found my old conversation about Process version 5.

Sorry, meant v5 of colour fidelity’s R5 profiles. I subscribe with Adobe, so my version of Adobe LR Classic is current.

I believe V5 is the current Color Fidelity version. I bought the profiles around two months ago and I received V5.

Could someone with the color fidelity presets post a comparison between Camera Standard, Adobe Standard and Color Fidelity for the R5?

Actually, this is still helpful to understand when and what enhancements were made in LR. I’d like to go back and reprocess some of my old files - obviously once I get caught up! So it’s good to know what was updated and when.
