My lens was just delivered from Adorama. I have only had ~15 minutes out with it but I took some test shots to see if there are any fatal flaws. For me, the short answer is no, but this lens follows what we have seen with the 14-35 and 10-20 where there are digital corrections being used on top of what is a very sharp optic prior to correction. Contrast is also very high, so even where it isn't as sharp it still looks punchy. It isn't fully optically corrected and you can decide if that works for you. Here are a few quick observations and samples. All samples were processed in ACR which does have a lens profile for this model:
Size and Handling
-It is like a DSLR 70-200 f/2.8 as others have pointed out. The dimensions aside from weight are actually a bit smaller than one of those, so it will fit into a bag just fine. It's denser than I expected and so it is quite hefty. For me this is OK as it could be a one-lens solution instead of two, etc.
24mm Results
-Surprisingly sharp prior to distortion correction across the frame at f/2.8. Gets really good at f/4 and fully sharp in the f/5.6-8 range. I didn't see a worthwhile benefit to stopping down further than f/8.
-Sunstar looks decent, but there is a good bit of flare shooting into the sun (see below):
-As I mentioned, it doesn't cover the full image circle at 24mm. I'm not yet sure where it does. The image below was shot at f/8:

50mm Results
-Pretty sharp from f/2.8. There is a boost at f/4 especially at the very edges where I would say it is as sharp as I need. f/5.6 looks great.
70mm Results
-Here I see a dip at the outer 10-15% of the image. Everything else is extremely sharp right from 2.8. At the edges contrast is very high, but there is a bit of a nervous look to the sharpness. Stopping down doesn't really change anything, it's about the same all the way from max aperture.
-Perhaps related to this, perhaps not, distortion correction is problematic on the current profile in ACR. If you turn off distortion correction you see a complete image with some pincushion-ing:
-If you start using distortion correction it reduces the pincushion effect, but the edges show a strange effect like there is no data but it's not cropping it out:
105mm Results
-Again, most of the frame is very sharp and contrasty from f/2.8. I see a recovery here at the edges compared to 70mm, they get sharper.
There is lots more to test like bokeh and intermediate focal lengths, but overall this is quite sharp and my copy seems really well centered, especially for this kind of zoom range. I'm used to going through bad copies of RF zooms but I think they did a great job here with QC.
