Firmware Notice: EOS R5 Firmware Version 1.9.0
Firmware Version 1.9.0 incorporates the following fixes and enhancements:

Adds support for the "Peripheral Coordinated Control.” Peripheral Coordinated Control is now always performed when a compatible lens is attached (there is no need to set it on the menu screen).
* Peripheral Coordinated Control is a function that reduces changes in distortion around the periphery of the image caused by camera shake, which tends to occur with wide-angle lenses.
Adds the ability to erase voice memos added to images and to add voice memos to protected images.
Adds enhanced security when transferring images via FTPS transfer.
Adds support for the Software Development Assistance Kit (EDSDK/CCAPI).
Fixes an issue, in which, after touchscreen operation, in rare circumstances, the camera operations cannot be performed, and even if the camera is operated, [BUSY] appears on the screen.
Fixes minor issues.

Did Canon re-release the firmware with additional features? I ask because this firmware version 1.9.0 was already discussed in a thread here on FM back at the end of September, but the Canon USA support site shows Oct. 17th for the current version 1.9.0 notice.

It's the same 1.9.0, but B&H just sent out an email to owners they know about. They always take a few days/weeks/moths extra

Yeah, I was out of the country and off grid when it was first released and never heard about it till now.
It doesn't look like anything exciting just like the previous one, but was just passing it along.

Anyone update to this FW and notice any hidden improvements?

I first heard of it here on FM in Sept., but no notification from Canon then, but two days ago I got an Email heads-up from Canon USA complete with a link to the download page. First time for that.
