If you want it to be small then I guess it's a question of what you're prepared to compromise on.
The Sony 18-135 is a very good lens for APS-C, giving a 27-200mm equivalent focal length range. It's about as small and light as a very flexible zoom can hope to be, you won't find a lens with more focal length on the long end without cutting a big corner on portability: it's already made for APS-C and made for compactness and not that big of an aperture... there are no other corners to cut.
I recall it being a very reasonable and handy size when I used it a little on an a6400 a few years ago. It even has stabilization, to help with that one limitation of your a6400 and to compensate a little for its unremarkable aperture.
