Is there a relatively compact lens for Sony E that has something like an 18-300 or maybe 18-200 range? I found the Tamron 18-300 but that seems kind of big and the Sony PZ 18-200 looks huge attached to an a6400. I also don't have a good point of reference for these except for some camera size comparison sites so perhaps these are small but look big in comparison to an a6400. Thoughts?

If you want it to be small then I guess it's a question of what you're prepared to compromise on.

The Sony 18-135 is a very good lens for APS-C, giving a 27-200mm equivalent focal length range. It's about as small and light as a very flexible zoom can hope to be, you won't find a lens with more focal length on the long end without cutting a big corner on portability: it's already made for APS-C and made for compactness and not that big of an aperture... there are no other corners to cut.

I recall it being a very reasonable and handy size when I used it a little on an a6400 a few years ago. It even has stabilization, to help with that one limitation of your a6400 and to compensate a little for its unremarkable aperture.
