Hi! I have a Sony A7Riii that has been having some hotshoe issues lately. It seems like there's a problem with the contacts as they continue to lose connection with any the flash/transmitter I connect and require pulling them out and putting back in to get the connection again until it goes out a few shots in. Additionally, I continue to get a message saying that the device isn't supported (even though it is) Has anyone had a similar issue that has a recommendation? Here's a link to some photos of the mount: https://imgur.com/a/12I4eua

The offset terminals look like one of my brand new bodies, so I do not see any obvious problems other than contamination. I would carefully and thoroughly clean with alcohol and try again. I would also inspect and clean the flash contacts.

Good to know it could just be a minor issue, should I just use 99% isopropyl alcohol with a q-tip to clean the contacts? The flash side is brand new, tried multiple new flashes/transmitters and similar issues with all of them.

You could try DeoxIT on the contacts, just be careful.

When you say be careful is the main concern bending the contacts or getting fluid in areas it shouldn't be?

Water/moisture in the hotshoe can trigger that "Device not supported" message. It seems to happen especially easy if one don't have used the hotshoe cover to protect it since the water that has ended up there then shortens out the small pins and then the circuit board logic gets confused what signal is coming there or not. It can most likely also occur if there is bad contacts between the hotshoe pins and the pins of the device that is mounted.
