Are all of them the same or are there adapters that actually begin focusing from within the body? I have a voigtlander 35mm f1.2 nokton that I dropped a few years ago and the focus barrel is frozen. Both Camera Quest and keh said they could not repair it and it's been sitting for the last few years. However when mounting my vme 40mm heliar it occurred to me that maybe that adapter would allow me to focus the Nokton and sure enough it does. It seems to focus well at apertures above 1.2 but not at 1.2 where it does close focus ok but runs out of steam long before reaching infinity. The barrel froze when I dropped the lens face down and I have no idea where I was focusing prior to dropping it though it's likely that it was focused somewhere between 10 and 20 feet given what I was doing and where I was doing it on the fateful day. In any case the macro adapter I have is doing a satisfactory job but if there were one that began it's focus closer to the camera it might make the f1.2 aperture more usable.
