p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · A7CR / Manual lenses wo electronics / touch operation

Hi, it's been a while I last posted.
I've recently bought an A7CR to replace my trusty A7R3. When I mount my CV VM-E close focus adapter with my M lenses, with Touch operation on, I see the manual focus window in the viewfinder dancing around the screen (without me touching anything) and after some time the window actually stays on the side of the screen or rest on one of the top corners..
This issue remains the same if I mount my Contax - E mount adapter (with CZ lenses). Both adapters have no electronics.
However, if I put on my Loxia lenses, as well as my other Sony lenses e.g. FE 35/2.8, then the touch operation works as expected - I can move the manual focus window with my finger on the touch screen.

Has anyone also experienced this? or maybe on other bodies with Touch screen? Is this a known problem?

With my new A7CII I have configured AF-ON button to bring up the manual focus window and when I have touch operations activated (I use C2 button to enable/disable touch operations) the focus window can be moved around the screen with touch in both viewfinder (EVF) and display (LCD) view modes. I have Touch Pad area set as right half of the display so that it's not impacted even if my nose touches the other side of the display in viewfinder mode.

It works well for me with manual adapters (I have used Rayqual M-E and Rayqual CY-E adapters so far) as well as with native E-mount manual focus lenses (I have used CV 40/1.2 SE, 50/1.2 SE, 35/1.4 so far), I have not had any issue of the manual focus area selector window dancing around the screen by itself with any of these configurations.

That problem implies that the camera is detecting touch events even though the screen is not being touched. Don't have any idea why this would happen with dumb adapters but not with native E-mount MF lenses... I would suggest trying out different settings for the Touch Pad area and trying to wipe the screen (to clean it in case there might be any dirt causing touch detection) to see if they have any impact.

Thanks Juha. Very strange... after I mounted the lenses with manual focus but with electronics, and got the thing to behave correctly, now when I mount a dumb adapter with mf lenses, the thing still behaves correctly... I cannot repeat the issue anymore...
