Mt. Cairnes, British Columbia, viewed from the Blaeberry FSR on the way to the Mummery Glacier hike. My wife was getting a bit miffed with all the photo stops as the clouds swirled - hiding, revealing, and lighting up the mountains. This was the most productive shooting day of our 3 week trip - would have also been nice to be able to see the mountains, but I love a storm, esp. viewed from a cozy tent or truck! We never did see the upper slopes of Mt. Mummery.

Very nice.

I must say I'm envious of your trip ... so much excellent work you've shared with us.

Oh, and that "miffed" thing, it helps when mine brings her knitting bag or a book on Audible.

Thanks Kent. Debbie has her iPad with games and videos, but that morning we were on our way to a hike, so she just wanted to get on with it. I'm lucky that she does understand my passion and goes along with it to a large extent. We often try to alternate serious photo days with more casual snap-shot days. On this trip we actually had many days I didn't shoot much at all.

Beautiful, Jim. The low clouds sandwiched between the mountains really make this shot for me. I'm very familiar with the miffed wife thing. It's taught me to shoot fast--sometimes too fast.
Cheers,
Brent

Breathtaking image Jim! Clouds and mountains are one of my favorite things. Also understand both sides of the miffed thing. Frustrating to have to hurry when a scene is unfolding before you and I guess it's equally frustrating for our partners and friends when they are delayed by an artist at work. Despite that, you really nailed this scene and sounds like you two still managed the hike. All's well that ends well. Steve

Super image Jim! The detail on the left peak swirling around the tip? SUPER! Clouds make everything wonderful.
Dan

PS My wife rarely goes out with me. She does NOT enjoy the stopping and starting. And yes Brent.....I get some negative feedback also......which makes me "rush" the shot!

Thanks for the comments guys.

Dan, my wife and I normally take a couple month long trips in our truck camper every year. Like I said she is pretty tolerant of my photography and we've worked out some solutions (another trick is a super light folding chair she can bring on hikes to sit comfortably while I shoot). Southern Utah is our standard in the fall but this year I talked her into the mountains of Canada which I've never seen in the fall. She happily went along with it but the cold and fear of bears (terrible tragedy in Banff park just before we arrived there) put her off. She told me I'm on my own for the next visit up there

Should I laugh or cry, just joshin' ya, Jim? .....I am afraid I can't get THAT far!!!!!!! But heh...can't live with them...can't live without them..goes with the frame and not your postings!
I envy the fact you have the camper...that might change her attitude on my end. My job took me all across the World yet I could not stop to enjoy the places I went to. I chose that route so "my bad".

Beautiful image Jim. I love the tones, details and atmosphere in this. A wife getting miffed? Surely you jest?
