I will post in the next days a few pics in this thread, upon editing. Hope you will enjoy them.

This is also a tribute to a fantastic lens.

Very nice! I use one with my Minolta XK.

But, does a zoom lens count as one lens?

Hmmm ...

One lens housing, with different magnification levels of projection by moving the relationship of internal lens elements / groups to provide a well focused image on the focal plane from a given perspective.

Under the bedouin's tent.

Invited to share tea in a Bedouin's tent at an altitude of 2000 meters in the Lebanese mountains.
Nomadic pastoralism preserves an ancient way of life.
Apart from a few anachronisms, this picture would have been the same 3000 years ago.

Not exactly. There has been three computations of this lens and Leica used the fist one. This is the third and last with the macro function.

Did the the re-formulation effect the performance at non-macro distances? Your images are beautiful in their composition and the technical performance of the optic. The Leica version isn’t held in particularly high esteem.

Thank you for the nice words.

I have not compared the three versions but you could find on the web some information about them. The consensus is that the second and third versions would be the best ones, specially in the corners of a full frame camera.

You could for example peruse this thread: http://forum.mflenses.com/minolta-md-3-5-35-70mm-comparing-the-three-versions-t82636.html

Some of the Leica R/Minolta lenses are belittled because Leica purists could not accept the fact that their preferred manufacturer has unallied with a so perceived lowly Japanese manufacturer. But if you just look at the output, Minolta lenses were certainly not worse than those of the best manufacturers of the time and some of them certainly deserved the red label, such as for example the 16 mm fisheye still sold as Sony decades after its introduction in 1968.
