Newly released. Nothing exciting; just housekeeping.

Here's the changes:

• Fixes an issue where JPEG files could not be enlarged and played
• Fixes an issue where the power may not turn on or turn off even if the Power switch is used
• Fixes an issue where the Switch V/H AF Area feature may not work correctly
• Fixes a Creators' App issue where the Auto Time Correction and Auto Area Adjustment features may turn off
• Improves the operational stability of the camera

Wow... a completely painless update using a memory card! That, combined with all the other recent model-feature upgrades, leaves me really searching for things to gripe about.

😜 and yes, using a memory card and apparently, that’s the only way to upgrade the FW of the A7r V now.

I would be very nervous about doing a firmware update via a Sony phone app. Doing the update by loading it onto an SD card and having the camera read that seems much simpler and less error prone.

The app just loads it to the camera. The upgrade is initiated on the camera with no interaction back to the phone.

Just updated mine as well - via the Creators app. Very simple and quick. Seems to have worked fine.

Just got my A7r5 today and finally a quick and easy way to update firmware. The whole process from downloading the update to finishing installation with the SD card took around 10 minutes.

I shot quite a bit yesterday, only AF lens was the Batis 135 and I was doing landscape shooting. No issues.
