Got a new R6 MK II. Anyone recommend a video showing how to set up the AF for eye tracking and single shot using the rear buttons? The menu is very different than the R5/6. Thanks!

Just use the "Functions available for customization" chart. It's faster than trying listen to some talking head (scroll about 1/3 down the page):

https://cam.start.canon/en/C012/manual/html/UG-09_Custom_0030.html

I customized the AF-ON button to toggle between one-shot and AI servo, put eye AF toggle on the DOF button, etc.

I wish the R6 MK II had a few more buttons for customization. Oddly my R7 has more buttons available for customized controls.

At least they were clever enough to make the customization different for stills/movie mode. The movie record button is now my stills ISO button just like it was on SL1/SL2... I shot several unimpressive movies with R6/2 while I played with it as new.

Now I would love to know a method how can I quickly move through menus, i.e. to swich complete categories, not just tabs one by one...

Edit: Ah, found that one... the dial on the ON/OFF lever.

I like using the wee red button for a quick video clip but wish the "rate" button could be reprogrammed for something useful. Oddly the R7 has a labelled/dedicated ISO button whereas the R6 MK II doesn't.

I agree with the Imagemaster on that one

Forum members have differing settings and configurations and may add even more confusion.

You can also press the Q button to quickly go to the next menu category.

A big difference between the R6 and R6II with respect to eye tracking is that with the Mark II you can assign eye detection/tracking to any AF point rather than only the whole frame tracking of the R6. You can either restrict eye tracking to stay only within the selected AF point (seems more relevant for the larger zone options) or let it start within the AF point/area and then continue tracking across the entire frame.

For what you requested, you need to dive into the Customize Buttons menu, select which button(s) you want to assign to AF activation, then while in that menu, press the INFO button to go to the submenu that allows you to customize AF behavior, such as One Shot vs AI Servo, AF point type, subject detection, eye detection, etc.

Hi,
If anyone can help me to find out where to install the new firmware 1.2.0 of Canon R6 mk2. I have downloaded to the memory SDX and tried to upload to the camera but couldn’t where it usually says “update firmware?”
Thank you for your help

You need to use the physical controls to select FW options. The touchscreen is disabled during FW updates. Oddly I didn't know this for years since I rarely use touchscreens: fingertips too tough from playing guitar and touchscreens don't work well for me (fingerprints reader too!).
