I find that I use the 24-200 far more than the 24-120 even though it is a faster lens. I could probably sell the 24-120 for close to $800 which would allow me to buy something like a 24-70 f/4 or perhaps a Nikon Z fc which really intrigues me.

You already answered this for yourself in the first sentence. Who cares what we think? Keep the lenses you use.

If I tell you the 24-120 is the better performing lens in its focal range, are you suddenly going to take it out of the bag more? You already know that.

I guess I was more thinking out loud. I was trying to see if others had made the same decision and whether or not they had regretted it.

I did. Started with the 24-200 as a one-and-done all-around travel lens. It was fine, but slow optically which bothered me in certain situations. Then got the 24-120 -- used it on one trip and sold the 24-200 immediately after because I knew I'd never use it again. And I have not regretted it or looked back once. But that's me and my preferences, and you gotta do you

Upon reflection, I will look into selling the 24-200 instead. I do have an F mount Nikon 70-300 AF-P plus FTZ which still allows me the extra reach beyond 120mm,

Thanks for your help.

Since you have them both and a few weeks is unlikely to make much difference in resale values, I would suggest you take each one on a separate but similar outing and decide which "felt" best in actual use... If you don't miss or rarely use the 120-200 focals, or contrarily if you absolutely miss not having them; and/or if you appreciate the faster apertures on occasion, or don't miss them at all, then your answer becomes clearer.

Since I do have two Z6 bodies, I could simply put one lens on each and take them both out on a field trip and see which one works better for me.

I have the 24-120 plus the AF-P 70-300 -- outstanding combo.

I sold the 24-70 f/4 to find the 24-120, and I sometimes regret that because I didn't get much for it (~$350) and it was notably smaller and lighter than the 24-120. But despite its size I do love the 24-120 and its versatile range.

I don't love the FTZ, necessarily, but I've become used to it as a permanent attachment to my 70-300. I was hoping Nikon would release a Z-mount version of it, but the fact that they allowed Tamron to do it has me giving up hope for it. And the Tamron is slower and doesn't have VR.

The FTZ works very well, but I do not like the additional bulk. I don't know why Nikon let Tamron beat them to the punch with their 70-300, but I have heard that it is a little bit finicky. Maybe Sigma will come out with one in a Z mount.

I may break down and try the Tamron, if I come across one locally. And the 100-400 temps me sometimes, though it's a bit more than I will typically spend on a lens. But then I use the AF-P 70-300 and am always pleased with the results, so it'll probably stay.
