That was an exciting wildlife encounter you had Scott! I have always said that it is being around the wildlife and observing the wildlife that is the most enjoyable part (by far!). It is not the equipment and/or post processing
I have no way of knowing if you already know the following. So if you do, please do not take it as an insult. And there are others here who specialize in ospreys. I don't specialize in them and where I go for my loons there is only an occasional osprey.
If you spend some time around your local waters you'll get an idea on how many ospreys are there and where they favor fishing. If it's in an area where they encounter people frequently they're very likely to tolerate you just sitting down and waiting for them (with that new 600 you've got coming!). And after awhile you'll get better at finding *the best locations*.
It may be an "osprey-favored" larger, long branch that extends out over the water. I really look forward to more of your wildlife postings!

Thanks Robert. Unfortunately for me (in terms of birding), I live on a lake that is over 2,400 acres so they are spoiled for choice when it comes to fishing and so far don't seem to be doing much of it near me. I need to find some smaller spots where they are active as well.

Very nice Scott. You'r lucky to have them close. I know there are some in my area but almost never get to shoot them.

Indeed, we have quite a few interesting birds of prey around here including Bald Eagles, which are always a treat to see.
