I bought a PixelFlash 3.0 "no bend pins" card reader because I was sick of the pins bending and breaking on my other readers. This reader is not recognized by my Windows computer. No matter what I do, I cannot get the computer (or other computers) to see the card reader. Other readers and peripherals work fine. Does anyone have any tricks for this or an idea of what might be happening?

What version of Windows are you running? I'm still on Win10 for my desktop, and some of its USB ports work better with USB 3.0 than others (probably depends on the balance between the USB drivers and FW versions on the different IO cards).

'Just get a different reader' obviously is no help, because you want the no bent pins feature.

Something I have experienced:
A device which is not recognized by my laptop, when plugged into USB3 port, does work when plugged into one of the ports on a USB-C hub, which is plugged into (obviously) USB-C port on same laptop. (it did not work using USB Type A to USB-C adapter, plugged into the same USB-C port)
