So, I had my Q2M for about a week or two, and have had some amazing results both good, and not so good. 😊

One thing I picked up on quick, is to under expose to preserve the highlights. After a little experimenting I’ve decided -2/3 EV (+/- 1/3) works best. And, I’ve decided RAW is a better option for capture & editing (at least for now). That combo seems to leave me with a good file that is easy to edit if needed. Wondering what other folks have settled on that works well. Coming from the Fuji world and all that can be done in-camera, I believe Fuji has an advantage for OOC JPGS, maybe I’m missing something.

I was taken aback briefly how LR (cloud edition) applies its Monochrome preset to the ingested file, and more surprised how that is the only preset! Are there any Preset Packs I might want to consider.

I have two goals in mind: 1–Edgy high contrast photos for city/street photography. 2–“High Fidelity” images that fully exploit the zone system advanced by Ansel Adams.

I’d also like to hear more about your experience/recommendations concerning the new iDR and Highlight-Weighted metering modes that recently became available.

I default to HW metering on the Q3, I'd probably do that as well if I still had the Q2M. For me, an Orange filter was a necessity. The files were just too flat coming out of the DNG's for my liking, and without the color channel data to adjust it was frustrating for how I work. I move between LR/LRc/C1 depending on what I'm doing, but I ended up preferring editing the Q2M dng's in C1, for what it's worth. Just seemed easier to get the higher contrast look I was going for.

That being said, I did give up on the Q2M (as I always seem to do with the monochrome bodies) as I prefer the control I have over color channels for B/W conversion as opposed to the monochrome DNG starting point. I do miss that high ISO performance though!
