Bit confused with some stuff read and video watched. I have 17-40 f4, 24-105 f4 and 70-200 f4. How will these lenses perform with the Canon 90d? Thanks yall!

I owned those three zooms and used them on my 90D and they were excellent performers in terms of focus speed and IQ. They only fall down if you use movie servo: too jerky and abrupt. I sold them all last year along with my 90D and 6D MK II and switched to the R series. Nothing wrong with them but I prefer not to use an adapter and am more of a hybrid shooter, so having nano USM is better for smooth video focus.

I am skeptical high res sensors need better lenses. Maybe but film seemed the opposite, for one thing

24mp aps is 60mp FF as far as pixels and I've used it a lot.

I've had the M6II, 90D, and R7, all with the same 32 MP sensor. I have not noticed these sensors over resolving any of my lenses, L or not. I tend to use the 90D for reach with the 70-300 IS II or 100-400 L II and it is wonderful. But it also takes sharp images with the 10-18, 15-85, 35, and 60 EF-S lenses. When I first got the R7 I used it quite a bit with the 24-70 f4 L and was very pleased with the results. I don't think you will be dissatisfied with your L lenses.

I have 24-105 and the 70-200 along with an 80D. Plus an old beat up 24-70 f/2.8. This is a remarkable combo. Relatively easy to carry in a knapsack, good coverage, and quick enough for most everything. I call it my, 'Toss in the back of the truck" rig. Remarkable how durable it's turned out to be.

As for resolution, relationship to glass, etc,. absolutely no issues. Don't do video so can't comment on that.

Here's a couple of quick shots with relatively little development.

What can I say? Bad light, movement, snap shot, still… They loved it.

They should be just fine. the 70-200 F/4 were some of Canons sharpest. THe 24-105 is a good lens (my favorite) but not really known to be the most razor sharp to begin with anyway. The 17-40 gets panned a lot, but I like mine and have used it on an M6II with good results. THat camera has the same sensor as your 90D.

All three lenses will perform fantastic with 90D. If you have them already that's a great trio. If it's me I would sell 17-40 and 24-105mm and get Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS. In my opinion this lens outperforms 17-40mm, it's brighter and has IS. Lens is super sharp, even with aperture wide open, fantastic with cropped sensor cameras like 90D.
17-55mm and 70-200mm make a great set. You may not even need the 24-105mm.
