p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Any experiences or take aways with Leica Q3 video? | |
Been playing around with a Q3, and I've been finding that the 4k60p quality video is not as clear (mainly shooting in L-log with the free Leica SL2 LUTs on their site). I'm seeing a bunch of moire and noise patterns with the 4k60p highest quality mov. Seeing this lack of IQ in 28mm and all other digital zoom lengths (kind of expected for digital zoom).
Tested 8k30p, and the video quality is much clearer and nicer (even when digital zoom is set for like 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, 90mm). Smaller noise patterns.
Currently im viewing the 4k60p as somewhat unusable (or maybe I got pampered by the zve1 4k60p quality), while the 8k30p is super nice, though I prefer 60p if possible.
I'll be doing more testing, but currently observations:
1) The Q3 does do some upscaling it seems for video, but more noticeable in 8k30p where quality is maintained. 4k60p looks like bad zooming quality like how sony does digital zoom thats beyond clear image zoom. Clear image zoom has great quality at least viewed with my eyes.
2) Doesnt seem like theres any form of dual gain ISO for Q3 in video (at least I couldnt observe it)
3) Stabilization is not as good for video in comparison to sony. Still quite shaky.
4) Unsure how to expose in terms of L-log whereas for slog3, usually I follow the +1.7EV rule.
